from machine import Pin
import time

led = Pin(2, Pin.OUT)
while True:
    led.toggle()
    time.sleep(0.5)

MicroPython gives you a REPL on the chip itself — type commands and see results instantly. It trades some speed and memory for development speed; time-critical parts can still be written in C.
