Voltage Follower

A unity-gain buffer: output equals input, with high input and low output impedance.

Beginner

Connect the output directly to the − input and feed the signal into +. Gain is exactly 1 ( $R_f = 0$ , $R_g = \infty$ ).

Use it to buffer a voltage divider, potentiometer, sensor or reference, so that the load doesn't change the voltage. Check that the op-amp is "unity-gain stable" — most general-purpose op-amps are.
