The byte order of multi-byte values in memory: little-endian (x86, ARM) vs big-endian (network order).
Easy
0x12345678 in little-endian memory: 78 56 34 12. Convert explicitly when parsing protocols: (b[0] << 8) | b[1] for big-endian 16-bit.
